Samsung LNT4669 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Review

(See update below) Bought this tv about 18 months ago, and we LOVED it – everything about it was excellent… until… about three-four weeks ago, when we’d turn it on, it would click and click … finally turn on. Initially the clicking lasted only 5 -10 seconds.

Now it’s up to a minute and we fully expect that soon it will simply stop. Until we have a fix, we’re leaving it ON, with the cable box turned off. But as I see from other reviews, Samsung will NOT acknowledge that there is a problem, and if you want it fixed, it’s around 500 dollars. That’s unacceptable.

I am going to try and get Samsung to repair this and will post an update should I manage it. Otherwise, just assume that they won’t do a thing.

*****UPDATE*****: AFter posting this review, I decided to chat with SAMSUNG online… when I explained the issue, even though we are out of warranty, they told me that IF the capacitor was the problem, which it sounded like it was, they would take care of it. They set up an in-home repair, and the next day the repair company called to make an appointment. The technician just left and the problem is gone. He said this IS common, and that Samsung has only recently decided to cover it… even last November it would not have been covered. So, if you have this problem, DO CONTACT Samsung. He also told me that Samsung has changed the product and claims the problem is fixed with the new capacitor. He also showed me the physical evidence on the top of my capacitor, where rather than flat, it was bulging out at the top, which he said was all the evidence he needed to identify the problem and fix it.

I have revised my STARS back to 5 on everything, since other than this problem, we have never had any other issues with it and love the TV.

If you must pay a bit more and have UPS ship it, I would highly recommend doing that. The money you save is not worth the hassle that this shipper caused me. This TV is stunning. It has a great picture and look to the screen quality. The ToC gives a nice asthetic feel to it and I love how my PS3 games and Blu-ray movies appear on the television. I definitely recommend the TV to anyone looking for a nice, relatively large flat screen for a reasonable price. However, if the shipper is Pilot Air or through this sight specifically, I DO NOT recommend ordering it. Granted, I ordered the TV in the winter time and live in the Midwest. I was expecting it to be delayed, as the many blizzards that rip through this area during this time of the year. What I was not expecting was making all the calls I did just to track my TV down!! Let alone, I find out it had been deferred several times to other locations all over and around the city I live in. My town is not that small (around 90,000 people) and shipping shouldn’t have been as frustrating as it was. And after all my aggravations, I did receive my television, perfectly in-tact… just 2 weeks later than I anticipated.

This model appears to be the same as the TH42PZ85U and was purchased from COSTCO. Ever since purchasing a Panasonic SD9 high definition video camera I have been wishing to upgrade my TV to the HD format. After looking at many LCD and Plasma televisions I found myself drawn to the Panasonic Plasma HDTV. After a six month wait I took the plung and purchased the 42″ Panasonic 1080p HD set. I haven’t used it for regular television broadcasts yet, but have set it up to play my Blu-ray player(also a Panasonic), an HD player and a DVD recorder. The footage that I have shot with the Panasonic HD camera is nothing short of STUNNING on this set! Watching this footage reminds of the days of 70mm presentations in movie theatres when we saw stunning images from films like “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Sound of Music”, “West Side Story”, etc. The Blu-ray, HD and HD video all have incredible color, brightness and sharpness. The Panasonic Plasma was not difficult to set up and I’m am very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended!

Samsung LN40C650 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) Review

Purchased TV from Amazon on 4-10-2010, and it was delivered 4-15-2010, in the beginning of the three hour delivery window. Shipper took TV from box to show in good condition. It was. Easy to hook up to Cox Cable once I had the HD box and a HDMI cable. Great picture on HD and non-HD channels. It is a great picture even with non-Blu-Ray DVD player. Son and friend set up new wireless router and Samsung wireless receiver so I could receive Pandora, AP, Yahoo and others. We could not get Netflix to work to stream on this TV. I am a Netflix subscriber. TV said to go to MENU, SUPPORT and SOFTWARE UPGRADE. We did so but there was no software upgrade. Very disappointed since the Samsung Web Site features this TV and shows the Netflix application and as a feature of this TV. Called Samsung and spoke to a woman who put me on hold three times and then finally said her boss said they are aware of the problem. I then asked if she or her boss knew when the problem would be fixed. She did not but hoped it would be soon. Me too. Also posted question on Samsung Face Book site and told support was working on the problem. Still no answer as to when my problem will be solved.

5-11-2010- Netflix nows works on my TV. Samsung updated application 5-10-2010, and also added several other applications.

I really like the TV and Amazon service.

Samsung LN52A750 52-Inch 1080p DLNA LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color Review

I’ve had this TV for a year and cannot complain about anything as far as the picture quality is concerned. It is incredible. The dynamic adjustments to the contrast are seamless. I also have a Samsung Blu-Ray player so I take advantage of the AnyNet technology. Using HDMI connections makes a big difference over the Component Video — the detail is outstanding. The 120 hz motion can sometimes be too much at the high settings (I keep it low) since it tends to show you movement you don’t see with the naked eye. (It can make you a little dizzy so I cannot imagine why anyone would want or need the newer 240 hz technology). Even old black & white movies are beautiful on this TV. I also have connect a PC via the DVI and a laptop with HDMI with extremely good results. There are no dead pixels anywhere.

The sound is good considering the size of the built-speakers but I run it through a Yamaha 5.1 channel AV receiver which of course, makes it more than realistic clarity.

Not too many complaints here — I wish the remote control was programmable but its not (neither is the remote for the Blu-Ray). For wireless LAN, you have to use the Samsung adapter which is no longer available but the Ethernet is fine. Since I have the wireless adapter for the Blu-Ray, I can get most web content from it rather than the TV.

And oh, yes, I bought a re-certified set which saved me a bunch.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Samsung LN-R328W 32-Inch Widescreen HDTV-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV Review

I purchased this television used for 0 from a local seller because I purchased a PS3 a few months ago and I have to tell you that I am addicted to this beautiful television.

I have my computer, PS3, and HD cable box connected to this 32″ screen, but I could not be happier. While it is a tad too big for a monitor, the resolution is amazingly clear, especially watching Prison Break and 24 in HD =)

I did not want to pick up an American brand because I’ve usually had bad experiences, and I am pleased with Samsung. While I am not able to afford top-notch brands like Sony, Samsung is much affordable and offers great quality for the money.

I would recommend this to anyone without hesitation. The only drawback is having all the inputs in the back. I wish they could have engineered it to include HDMI or cable inputs on the side.
